About the Author
Jean Phillips is a professor of Human Resource Management in the School Labor and Employment Relations at Penn State University. Jean earned her Ph.D. in organizational behavior from Michigan State University. Jean was among the top 5% of published authors in Journal of Applied Psychology and Personnel Psychology during the 1990s, and she received the 2004 Cummings Scholar Award from the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management. Jean has served on multiple editorial boards of top journals and she has published over 30 research articles. She has authored nine books, including Strategic Staffing (3e, 2014), Organizational Behavior (2e, 2013), Human Resource Management (2013), Managing Now (2008), and the five-book Staffing Strategically (2012) series for the Society for Human Resource Management. Jean was also the founding co-editor of the Organizational Behavior/Human Resource Management series for Business Expert Press. She has taught classroom and hybrid classroom/online courses in strategic human resource management, organizational behavior, staffing, and teams and leadership in the United States, Iceland, and Singapore. Her research interests focus on recruitment and staffing, leadership and team effectiveness, and linking organizational survey results to business outcomes.

Stan Gully is a professor of human resource management in the School Labor and Employment Relations at Penn State University. Stan earned his Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from Michigan State University. He is a fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and has appeared on lists of most influential scholars inside and outside the Academy of Management. He has authored or co-authored numerous research articles, books, and book chapters on a variety of topics, including leadership, team effectiveness, motivation, training, strategic staffing, and recruitment. Professor Gully has won awards for his research, teaching, and service to the field, and he is serving or has served on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Journal of Business and Psychology. He is a founding co-editor of the OB/HRM collection of Business Expert Press. He has taught undergraduate, master's, Ph.D., and executive classes on a wide variety of topics using traditional and distance learning technologies, both domestically and globally. Professor Gully's applied work includes, but is not limited to, managing at UPS, designing leadership training programs, developing team communication interventions, evaluating predictors of salesperson effectiveness, implementing employee surveys to drive organizational success, and enhancing managerial interviewing and communication skills. His research interests revolve around health and wellness, strategic recruiting, leadership and team effectiveness, training, and organizational learning.

Whether you're a oldie or a newbie or not a christian at all, this little book will speak to your heart.

As I read it, it truly got better and better. One may think"where is this going", well it's going to the heart of the matter.

Our walk at times gets tiring, seems unfulfilled or if you're not walking yourself you may wonder why does that "christian" keep bugging me, I am satisfied with my life as it is. Well in this small venture you will definitely find out why.

It's not preachy it's pratical living for the Lord, laced with scripture and thoughtfully planted as you read. Having an alive relationship is the core and worth digging for over a lifetime. Enjoy I did.

Outstanding Overview

I read this book in a couple of hours. The position the author takes is clear. Its a very straight forward book giving wonderful insights into the the workings of Christ in our lives. I really enjoyed the way he made it possible to see how our daily lives can be so different with just an open heart and an acceptance of Gods favor. Its an easy read with an enormous amount of illuminating information. Everyone should read it.

About the Author
Christopher P. Holmes was born in England, on October 7 1949, and raised in Ontario, Canada. He graduated with a B.A. from Carleton University, Ottawa in 1971 and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Waterloo in 1978. He taught at York University, Downsview, Ontario over an eleven year period, amidst controversy over his investigations of mystical and spiritual psychology, science and psychic phenomena. He co-founded with Anita Mitra, three centers–the Institute for Mystical and Spiritual Science, Maple, Ontario, the Rainbow Centre in Toronto, and Zero Point in the Ottawa valley. Christopher has also worked for twelve years as a forensic psychologist with young offenders and adults within the Ontario Ministry of Corrections. He currently dedicates himself to furthering the aims of Zero Point-Institute for Mystical and Spiritual Science–currently in Kemptville, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Holmes has studied widely in modern psychology and science, as well as in the mystical and spiritual traditions. In his view, the mainstream of modern thought is seriously misguided in dismissing the spiritual and soul nature of human beings, and in failing to explore the deep roots of human consciousness and the heart. Dr. Holmes explains that a science of soul and spirit must consider the physics, metaphysics and cosmology of consciousness. Most importantly, it involves self study and awakening through the alchemy of psycho-spiritual transformation. Christopher was introduced to the Gurdjieff teaching while a graduate student in clinical psychology interested in the development of consciousness within psychotherapy and in the broader nature of human psychopathology. His early years of study were focused more on the Ouspensky version of the fourth way teaching, and it was only over the following twenty years that he began to fathom the depths of Gurdjieff’s masterpiece Beelzebub’s Tales and to apply the study of the sacred laws to the findings, theories and philosophy of modern science and to understand the collective psychopathology of humankind.

Although this is a book written very intellectually and somewhat scholarly, it does not fail to be a marvelous companion to the other commentaries on Mr. Gurdjieff's magnus opus. It is highly recommended for those who can get through the 1st couple of chapters, because then it starts to be articulate and like a train that has to gather speed, it certainly lives up to its potential. Recommended
